How to Disable DMA on CD-ROM/CD-RW drive

i got a dvd and a cd-rw drive and i want to disable DMA on them cause they just make the computer reboot everytime. so how do i do it

Right click My Computer, Properties, Device Manager, extend the CDROM (by clicking the plus sign), Right click on the CDROM device choose Properties and go to Settings, you'll see the DMA option there.

I have only been able to disable DMA in the BIOS by disabling it for the device in question. Seems like the previous method in Win 98 is not available.

1. Open the Device Manager. One way to do that is to right click on "My Computer", select the Hardware tab, and Select Device Manager. 2. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" and double-click on "Primary IDE Channel" 3. Under the "Advanced Settings" tab, check the "Device 1" setting. More than likely, your current transfer mode is set to PIO. 4. Set it to "DMA if available".
Repeat the step for the "Secondary IDE Channel" if you have devices attached to it. Reboot.

But there is no Advanced tab in XP on my Athlon 1,4 Epox 8KHA+ Via 4.35 drivers ???!!??
