Hi everyone! How should I disable automatic mount of hard drives on windows XP? Every time I connect a new hard drive (USB or IDE port), windows automatically mounts the new partition and assign a new letter. I strongly need to disable that property. Why? When I connect a single drive that belongs to a RAID 1 array (mirror), windows XP mounts the drive and modifies a small amount of sectors. So when I reconnect the drive to its original system, the array is degraded..... Thanks for any help/advice you might have. Nicolas

You can't. Allocation of drive letter is integral to the Operating system.

Besides, splitting a RAID 1 array in that fashion is just asking for problems.
