How to dedicate drive letters

Specs: Windows XP/Seven, I3 2.9ghz 4GBram
On my work computer, we have dedicated memory cards for our CNC Lathes, labled Machine 1, Machine 2 and Machine 3. They insert into the same memory card slot on the card reader each time. They all used to stay with the same drive letter, no matter what order they are inserted. My boss recently plugged in his mobile phone into the computer and now the drive letters change depending on what order you plug them into. I have tried setting manual drive letters using computer managment snap-in, but this doesnt work.... Well at least untill you unplug them then put them back in again. I know I can just name the drives instead, but the CNC software we use only shows up the drive letters, so its nearly impossible to know what machines memory card you are writing the program too.
Does anyone have any idears at all?
Thanks in advance!

If you can use different drive letters then try using letters near the end of the alphabet so no matter what other USB devices are connected those letters will not be bumped. Look at the link below for more on this topic.

quick follow up, I managed to get a solution. I used a tool called USBDLM as mentioned in the above post. Set the drive letter by editing the .ini file with the device id, and the drive letter I wanted.
