I encrypted some files. then I reinstall WinXP. now I can't open those files. I know the old username and Password. How can I utilize those information to decrypt files ? is "certificate manager" a built-in WinXP software ? I didn't set any recovery agent.

please help me

nt file encryption uses "on the fly" key generation.

since you re-installed you wiped out the key, your files are toast. usename and passwd no help, you need the key, it's gone.

certificate manager has nothing to do with your problem it's for secure web site certs.

I found a software ( advanced efs data recovery ). it searches for pubic key. when i search it finds the public key. and shows that my files are decryptable. but its a trial version so i can't decrypt all.
can I utilize those keys to decrypt files in windows. it is really important.

please help me
