i want to know how to create and image of my os and added software... is there any free software i can use or is there a way to use nero to do this

Norton Ghost is one option. It is not free, but well worth the price, especially if you look around eFray for an older version

There are "free" programs, but I guess you have to ask yourself "how much is my data worth to me?"

Agreed!! Norton Ghost is the way to go for this. Yes it costs some money, but it's worth it to me.

check out partimage SystemrescueCD, its a bootable CD that takes images of your HDD, and its open-source so its free.

IMHO Acronis True Image is better than Ghost. ATI blows Norton out of the water in terms of speed and general ease of use. Besides Acronis can be found pretty cheap... $20 cheaper than Ghost: $49 compared to $69 and it's worth every penny.
