No the old hard drive is a 20 gig IDE set as master, the new one is a 120 gig IDE set as slave. The partitions are not the same the new one is larger. Nothing else has changed. Running ghost from the system tray.

Sorry didnt get back to you tll now..

The way you have the drives setup will cause Ghost issues, as its looking for a boot drive to create a primary partition on.

The fact it is setup as a slave drive will cause problems on its own..

Also the newd drive is very diffrent to the old one, I suspect its a 7200rpm and 8 meg cache drive..

I would strongly recommend to you that you set the new drive up as master, partition and format the new drive and do a clean install of XP..

The way the files are laid out on the 2 drives will be very diferent, and doing a clean install will eliminate any perfomance issues you will have...

Once done you can connect the old drive as salve, to the secondary ide chanell and transfer the data that you need to the new drive. Once done you can format the old drive and use it for whatever purpose you wish..

Probably not the answer you were hoping for but it is a much better way, considering the diffrence between the 2 hard d rives.

Hope that helps

Not a problem my pleasure..

It is worth keeping in mind that whenever chnaging hardware where diffrent levels of cache is in question, it is advisable to clean install, as the raw data streaming is vry different.

This in particular apply's to CPUS and Hard drives.

it is a pain you are right, but its worth it in the long run.

Regards
