hi guys,
I have just bought new Hard drive that I want to make my primary drive. So I formatted it as F drive, installed Win XP as a dual boot (C: drive had XP also) copied my files over etc... Now I want to format the C drive and make the F drive my System drive (i.e contain the boot.ini etc. information) .... how do i go about doing this?

Well the easiest solution is to go the manufacturer of your new drive and download the Disk manager software they have for it, boot off that and let it CLONE the old drive to the new DRIVE.

I am guessing that both drives have only XP on them?? first from within "F" XP edit the boot.ini file in the root of "C" and delete the line that refers to XP on "C".then delete XP on "C" reboot to make sure XP on "F" boots if all is well shut computer down and make "F" the #1 HD (master) and "C" #2(slave) be sure to change the jumpers on the back of the HD's now restart with the XP cd and do a repair: repair ..2 Start the operating system from the CD-ROM, run Setup, and then choose to repair the previous installation. (skip the "Recovery Console" and "ASR" prompt This feature detects the old install when you start setup of the same version, and offers the "Repair" ("Press '1' for...." on the second screen, after pressing ENTER for setup ) You might haveto re-activate Windows when the repair process is finished. reboot and you should be running off XP on the new "C" old "F" now you can format the old "C" whatever it is called now
