How to change RAR download action?

I am not sure if this is Firefox thing or a WinXp thing.
When I downloaded a rar that is in multiple parts, my download is set to extract it.
How and where can I change it so it just downloads it like a regular file. I do not want to extract it until I have all of the files.

So do I change something in FF or is this a WinXp change?
P.S. I already tried asking this in the FF forum but got no reply.

Try right click save as.

See also tools options applications tab in firefox.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

I doubt it's a Firefox thing or a WinXp thing.

Where do you set your download option to extract rar files?

Go to the settings in Firefox.
Then click the programs and search for RAR.
Here you can change on what should be done with it.

Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!

I have downloaded multiple rar files. Once the complete set have downloaded to a folder I used Winrar to extract them all within the folder. The extraction formed the complete single file I wanted to download.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunetly none of them have worked.
To jefro Rep # 1,
You suggested 2 item. A right click did not produce a Context menu, so I could not use the Save as, 2nd was change the action taken in Tools Options Applications, I changed the default from open to Save file for IZarc. However it seems like it still acts the same way with Open in IZArc as the default.

To XpUser Rep # 2,
My Option for any file including rar is to Ask Me Where. I do not have a static loction for files it depends on what type of file it is as to where I downloaded it to.

To paulsep Rep # 3,
Sorry but your reply was similar to jefro, and it did not work.

To btk1w1 Rep # 4,
Yes I do the same thing but instead of Winar, I use IZArc

To philamor Rep # 6,
As stated before I can not right click for a context menu, so I can only left click. So when I left click on the link, it produces the standard down window with 3 choices.
It says you have Chosen to OPEN
1) Deflaut IZArc
2) Flashgot
3) Save File

I do use the Save File and click ok and it does give a choice as to where to save the file however the Radio Button for change what action is taken is Grayed out so I can not use it for all files of similar type.

So in the end even though you replies have suggested some go advice none of the action has change the out come.

I believe the problem my be that It says "I have chosen to open the file".

I do not want to Open the file I just want to Save it.
This action my be taken because of the WinXp/ Tools /Folder Options/ File Type.
Where as the action on RAR file is to Open.

What do you thing of they possible reason it whats to Open rather then Save?

How to change RAR download action

firefox / tools / options

applications tab, scroll down , click winrar , action save as

example
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo...

once you have changed the application action,
does the 'revounstaller portable .zip' now "save as" instead of open with winrar

This was suggested in Response # 1 & # 3, and it has already been tried as I stated in my reply.
It did not change the reaction to Save As but remained Open with IZArc.
Thanks for the reply

I would like to thank everyone who replied.

It seems that it was a WinXp thing.
It was solved by going into
Window Explorer
Tools
Folder Options
File Types
Selecting RAR
Removing the Open command
Applying
Ok

Now when I download a file it is set to Save As

Once again thank for you help.
