my computer has a major problem, it keeps getting hacked. first can someone help me to change my ip address and i am getting a firewall installed but i need to change my ip address. how do i do that? also my computer is slow i have kept it in a cool dry place. cleaned it out , got a ram clearer but still it doesnt perform like it did when i bought it new. any helps would be great but the ip address change is a must!!! thanks for all help
Only people who can change your IP if you are on a high speed connection is your ISP. Even if you are on a cable modem when the lease expires on your current IP you almost always get the same IP address again.
If you are using dial-up your IP changes each time you log-on but again, if you are on Cable or DSL you will need to contact your ISP. They are the only ones that can do it.

Which kind of connection do you have? And who is your ISP?

'just to add to the above info, this is an XP forum, therefore I assume you are using Windows XP. XP has a firewall within the operating system; go to START, Help + Support and run a search on ICF.
You could also try a third party firewall such as ZoneAlarm:
