Is it possible to change the font in which I view a PDF document in Acrobat reader 5 to a different font which I find more comfortable to read (in MS-Word for instance it's not a problem, but I couldn't figure out how to do it in acrobat reader)?

Sorry, you can't. The advantage of creating a document using acrobat is that you can be sure that everyone viewing it will see it exactly as you intended.
Fonts and all. So to change the font, you would have to open the original document, change the font, then recreate the pdf file.
