How to change COM3 to COM1

My pc had "Lucent Win Modem", it on COM3. I check BIOS, no any info. about that modem setup. How do I can change that modem from COM3 to COM1 ?

Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Advanced tab, Advanced Port Settings...
But why do you want to do this?

Dear Stuee: The reason to change to COM1 because that modem did not work, someone told me to switch to COM1. I was following your info. went to Advanced tab, but did not find any advanced port or any thing I can change .

I dont think you can change the com port for win modems. You may have a driver problem or a fault modem. Try moving it to another pci slot and reinstalling the driver.

Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems Hilight your modem, then click Properties, Advanced tab, Advanced Port Settings...
Here you can change which port your modem uses.

before you can put it on com1, you'll have to disable com1 in bios setup, to make it available, for an internal modem.
