Howto block remote telnet to my pc?
Can I use netstat to do that?
Also:
what does this netstat entry says:
Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP mycomputer:telnet mycomputer.myworkgroup:0 LISTENING
->could this be a remote hacker listenning
at my ports? Kind of strange since all I was doing at that time is to load computing.net!

First its very easy to disable Telnet. Go to
Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Click on SERVICES. Now cursor down to
Telnet. It is usually set to manual. Right
click and select Properties. Then there will
be many Tabs, it should be on that first page
and just select DISABLE FROM THE DROP DOWN
Menu. Instead of Manual. IMPORTANT REMEMBER
TO CLICK APPLY SETTINGS; and close out after
that. Note: Your Telnet connection vary well
could be a hacker; though I suspect your
running behind some type of firewall and it's
just a Routing Error. Regarding the Netstat
tool, is it the one from www.analogx.com? If
so the error message your getting is because
of the improper IP being routed through the
firewall. NetStat has nothing to do with
what your worrying about. Netstat Just gives
real good Info on Bandwidth, Upload and Down
load limits, and a few other various Info.
What you also need to do is Go to Control
Panel/select Performance and Maintance/ then
Select the SYSTEM TAB/ Then click on The
Remote Tab, and Uncheck both those Boxes.
Again Make Sure U click Apply Settings.
Bam then there U go, Good as New. Good Luck
and Have a Good One.
