I have about 500 mp3 files in one directory and I would like to arrange them by the date the file was created. Im only given the option to arrange by; name, size, type, artist, album title, year (of the song), duration, and track number. None of these are what I want. I also set the folder to be documents, pictures, photo album, music and videos under customize, but still it wont give me the option to arrange by the date the file was created. Can anyone please help me?

Sadly Random, this option isn't active for a folder where there are exclusively MP3 files.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has the answer.

Haven't experimented with it much, but I noticed the MP3 options are only there in the "My Music" folder, or any subfolders in My Music. If you create a completely separate folder somewhere (anywhere...desktop for instance) and fill it exclusively with MP3 files, you get the normal choices like you would for any other files.

Try copying your mp3's from the My Music directory to another, and see if that works for you.

Also...has anyone tried throwing another file in with the MP3's? What happens if you say throw a blank text file into the My Music directory. Will it let you organize them the normal way then?

I have all my MP3's in a separate folder which created on a partition: named MP3S.

WHen I open the folder I get only the name, size, type, artist, album title, year (of the song), duration, and track number.

Now a peculiar thing. I have just created a new folder labelled SOUND and copy all of the MPs, bingo: Name, Tye, Size and Date Modified!

So Justin, try that: it worked for me.

Good tip Bryan
