I know how to arrange icons in a window by name, but in this case the names are numbers. When I try to order them they show up like this:

1
10
11
12
134
2
20

etc..

How can I get them to list in ascending numeric order?

I don't think you can easily do this with Windows. It reads the file/folder names and sorts them alphabetically with numbers first and 1 before 2.

arrange icons by name.

Arrange them by name will also numerically arrange. This works for both folders and files.

If you don't mind renaming the folders, you can use a numbering scheme which can organize in ascending/descneding order by number of digits. By this I mean that since your list has a three digit number (134), if you number your folders 001, 010, 011, 012, 134, 002, 020, etc., then a sort will organize them in numeric order.

The folders store CAD drawings and are named the number of the part. There are 65,000 + parts, so renaming the folders is not really an option...

Just wondered if there was an easy way to do this. The engineers at my work constantly hunt down drawings all day, this would make it a little easier for them.

Thanx anyway

If your engineers can't find the files in a text/number sort scheme:

1
10
11
12
134
2
20

you may want to consider finding new engineers....:-)
