hi there,
i wanted to know how to analyse the memory usage of a machine by looking at the Task Manager, Performance Tab ??

there are 4 sections in there "Totals", "Physical Memory", "Commit Charge" and "Kernel Memory".

I sort of understand the general topic above but not sure of specific details under each.

thanks in advance.

See technet and other sites on how to setup and monitor performance using perfmon.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Search the web for a program called "Ram Idle".
Many places to download free.
It displays current free RAM in the System Tray.
Also you can right click the icon to free up any
amount of RAM.
I use a Beta version I got some years ago, and
has a Memory Usage of 2,888k.
