Ok...
I have a small computer, I had taken it off of the network and took it home to mess with it and I hooked it up to my computer for fast file transfer via a crossover. Now I am ready to bring it back and hook it back up to the network. But I can't get it to work.
This is currently how the network is set up.
There are 2 computers. This one and another one. They both go into a hub, which goes to a T1 router/modem or whatever you want to call it. I ran the XP wizard and said it connected to the internet through a hub. I have the IP address, Gateway, DNS, etc. that I need to put in, in the TCP/IP settings. I ran the wizard and then changed the settings to what i have. Still no work. What am I doing wrong? I am kinda new to this. So a little help would be greatly appreciated :D
Thanks.

I not much of a network guru, but I'll put in my 2 cents. When you took the computer off the network the DHCP server or the router may have released the IP address associated with that computer. Now that the computer is back on the network the DHCP server(or router) may be trying to give the computer a new IP address, but you've hard configured the old one. You may have to set up the computer to obtain an IP(DHCP) automatically or go into the DHCP server(or router) to figure out what address it's trying to assign(or the next in line). You may need to check the MAC address for a match. I hope this is somewhat helpful.

hrmm...
Well how would I check the IP address on the router? And its actually just going through a hub, which then goes to a T1 modem. Maybe the modem is doing this? I think the IP is an IP the ISP assigned. I dunno exactly.
I know it is a static ip though. So any suggestions?
