PaulPaul, Open your Task Manager (Alt/Ctrl/Del) and under the Performance tab--Physical Memory subtract the Available from the Total.

Search the web for a program called "Ram Idle".
Many places to download free.
I displays current free RAM in the System Tray.
Also you can right click the icon to free up any
amount of RAM.
I use a Beta version I got some years ago.
Mine only uses up 3MB.

you have 1/2gig of ram. Physical ram isn't your issue and adding more is better but won't solve your problem.

Start with a spyware check and remove programs you aren't using anymore with add/remove programs. Move stuff out of your startup folder to see if this is what is slowing you down.

Other troubleshooting methods available via google.

Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search

puter Speed and Performance May Decrease

When you open, then close programs, programs may not free up RAM memory. That is called
"Memory Leak".

I use a free program called FreeRam XP Pro v1.51. It not only monitors memory usage, but also tells you CPU usage and can be minimized to your system tray. It's really nice; I have it on all my Win9x and later boxes. See here.
