I'm planning to sell my laptop due to the fact that I don't really use it that much and think things would be simpler with a netbook as that's all i would use it for

The specs of my laptop are

Built by Novatech

Processor: Intel Dual Core T7700 @ 2.4Ghz

Ram: 4 Gig's installed but only 3 come up in system

Hard-drive: 320gb

Graphics Card: Nvidia 8800M GTX

DVD Drive

Screen Max Resolution: 1920 by 1200 (Not sure of the screen size but I know it's a wide screen)

Operating System: Windows XP Pro

Anyone know what I should expect to get for it and does anyone know an free program I could use to make sure all my personal data is wiped before I go to sell it?

Well, your laptop should still be worth about 200 pounds +, however it may be good looking around (say ebay) and finding out how much other people are selling theirs for

if you want ALL your information from the hard drive removed, stick a nail though it, pour boiling acid over it and then fire it into the sun

if you want the next best thing, use http://www.dban.org/

I think it's worth at least a solid £350 - £400, have you considered listing it on Craigslist?

To preserve your data in the safest way, install a new HDD in the laptop then you can put it in an enclosure for 2.5" Drives and use it for backup on your desktop. You KEEP your Data.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
