how does bios work?

i am trying to install win XP via cd-rom but i dont know how to boot up my computer from start up. i know i have to go to the bios page and change the setting but i cant find where. please help me. and thanks in advance.

you usaly access the bios by pressing one of the f1 thru f10 buttons or by pressing del if you look at the web page for your computer they may be more specific about where the bios button is and how to use it
you also have to press the button repeatedly before the machine boots into windows
