How do you Laplink to laptop with Win98?

I have tried everything and nothing works, the only port Windows Xp sees is the LTP1 port and I can only use the COM1 port how do you make Windows Xp use the COM1 port?

You have to purchase Laplink Gold V11. Other products don't seem to work with XP.
