click Start, Run, type: msconfig, hit Enter, click on the Startup tab, uncheck Scandisk, click OK and reboot.

disabling (unticking) scandisk in the msconfig startup tab causes a default condition of selective startup in the general tab with all items ticked. Is this giving a full startup. TY ned.

Thats not a problem. Any startup loader, if disabled will bring the Selective Startup window. Place a check in that window against the option " Do not show this window again " or something similar.
