well right now im running off of win2K, but a friend has been asking me how to setup a connection through XP. well i havent had time to go over there to figure it out, and i have no time to figure it out, always busy. if soemone can please explain to me how to, so i can instruct him.
the reason y he wants this, is because he has something called "Bellsouth Connection Manager". the company that gives him DSL connection, this is a program they instruct u to use, even though its a piece of crap. and it always makes him disconnect and crap, its annyoing i beleive. so of anyone can help me, plz post a reply!thx

Dont use the bellsouth cd with xp! You dont need it and just puts a lot of uncessary crud on your computer. Start, programs, accessories, communications, new connection wizard. Run that and chose connect to the internet out of the options, then choose setup my connection manually, then choose connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and passwor. Then follow the rest of the instructions and you will be on in a flash. Doesnt take but a second and no need for the garbage cd from bellsouth.
Note: This only works on xp and maybe windows 2000 not sure about 2000 but windows 98 or me you have to use the cd!

If you know the name and password of the bellsouth isp account then doing described as above works and well, if you have any problems you can call bellsouth and one of them at support will assist in getting you online.

for all windows EXCEPT XP you need an "access manager" This is the only reason to use the CD. However, it would be advisable to download the "access manager" (or whatever your DSL provider calls it) directly from server wedsite.Often the CDs are old and it is best to get newest version from your provider. Also, NOT using the CD will not mix you up about browser version. Nearly always, the CD has an old version, which won't actually overwrite your up to date version. For XP it is exactly as doc states, using connection wizard

thx guys, i really appreaciate it. See if my friend is smart enough to figure it out now..lol
he isnt really computer savy , u kno?
