Dear group:

How do I download and save YouTube vids to my desktop? I also need a FREE flv player because someone said you have to convert the vid files to flv's? Is that right?

Thanks!

kerry

... or this freebie, works fine for me:

I think it plays them too but I already had one of the many .flv freebie players installed. You will find stacks in google, such as this simple one:

Even IrfanView will do it if you have it on board (just tick the .flv extension).

Now everyone will know what I do in my newly found spare time LOL.

You can also just retrieve them from your temporary internet files folder.

Re #5.

Yep, quite true. You look for the large GetVideo files, copy them out to a folder then rename them with an .flv extension.

OK unless you are doing a lot of it. You need to keep clearing your TIF's otherwise it can get pretty confusing with more than one GetVideo file. You still need an .flv viewer (IrfanView will do, as I said).

It's an online converter with a bunch of formats to choose from and you just have to click download! IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!
no flv player or converter needed!

Greetings lurkswithin!

I installed YoutubeCrazyVideos and unfortunately it can't find all the vids that I want to download and save. One of the vids I tried to search for and save using YoutubeCrazyVideos was found at Youtube but YoutubeCrazyVideos said, "Sorry that video is no longer available" but I know it is available because I just watched it.

Thanks anyway for the link.

Dear Derek:

Sorry it took so long to reply. Your solution worked the best. I like the YouTubeDownloader because when I copy the YouTube URL all I have to do is put my mouse over the space where you enter what video you want to download and the program automatically enters the URL. I don't even have to paste it in. Now that IS kool!

Also the FLV Player is easy for me to use. I need to keep things as simple as I can when it comes to computers because it causes me less headaches! (LOL)

Thanks to all of you for the help.

Thanks lurkswithin!

Thanks Derek!

Thanks BobD!

Thanks wgaxp!

Thanks guitargraham!

I am happy that all you guys are helping so many people like me in this forum.

Glad it worked out OK for you, as you say that mouse-over is a neat feature. I too prefer simple neat programs without a load of unecessary features.
