Specs: Windows XP
I am missing my start button and associated info on my XP.
I have to use other methods to start or shut off the system.
How do I restore it?

What solutions do you mean?

Try this:
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del keys to bring up the task manager. On File > New Task (Run) type: explorer then OK. This should start windows explorer. Press CTRL + ESC or your Windows key to make Start menu appear.

Otherwise let us have your computer make and model number.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If this is something recent and maybe occurred after you made some changes you might also try a system restore using a date from before it happened.

Did you somehow enable "auto-hide the taskbar"? Drag the mouse pointer to the very bottom of the screen, does the taskbar appear?
