OK, I accidently deleted my recycle bin icon.
I follow the instructions below and all I get is an icon with no title and nothing happens when I double click on it.
Did I do something wrong?
Thanks,
Debbie===================================
Posted earlier about replacing the missing Recycling Bin Registry.
If the above doesn't work cathy and you want to edit the registry to restore your recycle bin then follow these instructons.
Click on Start/Run type regedit then click OK
Click on the + sign alongside the line HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then scroll to
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Desktop\NameSpace (This is called a key)
Right-mouse click the NameSpace key, choose New and then Key, and name the new key exactly:
{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
In the right pane, right-mouse click (Default), choose Modify, and in
the resulting dialog box, type Recycle Bin on the Value data line. Click
OK and close the Registry Editor. Right Click the desktop and choose refresh in the menu.
The Recycle Bin icon should be back.
===================================

I take it, since you are messing with the register settings, that you have already tried pulling up Windows Explorer from the Accessories portion of the start menu, running it in the minimized mode, and simply dragging and dropping the Recycle Bin Icon onto your desktop.

Debbie, You may want to go to the link below and under the letter "R" scroll down to "Damaged Files in Recycled Folder" where you'll find a "Replace/Repair the Recycle Bin (Line 64)link to download a .reg fix.
Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

You are good. Fixed the problem perfectly.Thanks,
LongRider....
I had also read about your solution but I have a partition and thought that if I copied the recycle from the C:drive it wouldn't catch the D:drive also.Thanks both for the help,
Debbie

Debbie, Glad to see that the problem has been corrected and Thanks for posting back to let us know. The Kellys XP Korner site is probably the best Windows XP site on the Internet.
