How do I restore an IBM laptop

Specs: xp pro, 1.8

Since my other Laptop is Shot.....

Looked for this info on the IBM site and (apparently) ..It's some deep dark secret..Geez..

Anyway, I have an IBM thinkpad R40 with the partition for restoring entire system but can't find the "F" Key or whatever to start the process. I'm sure it's simple but IBM thinks it's the code to Fort Knox !! Grrrr!

Thanks :)

IBM/Lenovo do indeed have a feature called 'Rescue and Recovery' which will create a set of Recovery Disks, however this feature is ONLY accessible from within Windows (very clever:).

if you cannot access windows, you'll have to order a set of recovery CDs from Lenovo tech support.

Have you tried pressing the blue Access IBM button during boot? It is designed to activate the setup process if recovery is needed/

Here is a link to the manual stating the button is the way of recovery disks are not available
