I'm wondering if these shortcuts are a function of your browser rather than your home page. Do you mean the Favorites or bookmark toolbar? If so you can right click and delete any you don't want.

Adding them depends on your browser (not given) but there is usually an option to place them there instead of in your Favorites or Bookmark list. You add them when you are on websites (in Internet Explorer it's Favorites > Add to Favorites bar).

If the above is not what you mean then what home page are you using?

Firstly my apologies for not stating that I was referring to Google Chrome, from which I had un-installed a whole load of shortcuts that were on there when I installed it...most of which I had never heard of!. I then checked out various answers on how to replace them with the ones I did want, on numerous web pages. Most referred to clicking on a 'cog' in the top left or right of the home page. There wasn't one on my page! Some hours later, and after posting the query on these pages, by accident I right clicked on the black 'bar' area that runs the whole length of the page and a drop down menu appeared offering / THEME / LAYOUT / ADD A NEW TITLE and by selecting the latter I pasted in several URLs and now have a Google Chrome home page to my own preferences. In any event thank you for your reply. This is the first time I have used this page and if your reply is anything like the speed and information on offer, then it might not be the last time I will use it.
