Copy & Paste this into the RUN box:

Yeah right, no more messenger but you going to have a new critical update right after that. on finishing installing the update, voila!!! messenger is back.
In other words, MSN messnger is built in the the xps kernel, the only thing you can do is to hide it so don't see it or use it. but you can't get rid of it.

once it's removed, it's gone. there's no need to install the Messenger critical update.

1.Go to run>type in msconfig>enter. Brings up the System Configuration Utility.
2.Click on the Startup Tab.
3.Scroll to msmgs box and uncheck it.
4.Hit Apply and reboot. Should be gone!

MSCONFIG only prohibits MSN Messenger from loading up. It doesn't mean its gone. I tried one of the boxes above and it worked perfectly.

To easily Disable Messenger
Go into C:Program Files/Messenger
rename the Messenger folder to something like "MessengerOFF"
messenger will not load again and you will not get a critical update for MSM4.6
Hope this helps
Cheers
