I've looked at the other posts on this forum and have tried but hasn't worked, not sure what I'm doing wrong. When I had 98 I ran a program called spider that allowed me to view/read (and delete if I wanted) my index.dat file. I purchased a new computer that has XP and I'm not able to get spider to work. I've always tried going into DOS but have only found the files but haven't been able to read the content. Could anyone give me specific instrucitions on how to do so. thanks.
Notepad will show you some random nonsense. Spider shows you a list of URL's. I havent tried spider with windows xp. Did you check the spider website for an update or a "we dont support" message?
