Specs: Windows XP
Can t open floppy disk on windows xo ask me to format and that would erase it's content correct ?

Formatting will erase the data.

If the drive cannot read the disk there is little you can do. You could try reading the disk in another computer. Drive heads can sometimes be slightly mis-aligned that will make reading the disk impossible.
Beside, floppy disks were never very reliable at the bast of times.

Yes format would erase the contents.

The reason Windows XP is asking you to format is that it does not think that the floppy is formatted or it does not recognise the formatting.

If you have files on it that you wish to keep then you will have look into the reasons for this problem and fix that first or attempt a recovery.
