Hi i did a google search and can't seem to find the info i am after. I am logged in as a user...automatically....i don't actually enter a password and there is no login screen. Now i want to see if a program i have is not working because i am logged in as a user. So how do i bring up the admin thing? I know my password as i am the admin of the computer. I did a fresh install of xp pro. Btw some websites said to do ctrl+alt+del twice at the welcome screen but that doesn't work

Might have to start in safe mode and then select administrator. May then have to make a new users that has admin and then if not by default show it on log on screen. You should always be on a limited user account. Only for some admin tasks would you use the run as feature.

Thanks it turns out the user i thought i created during the install of xp was not. It was another administrator. Odd didn't know that is possible. When i got into safe mode it said that both were admins. Well i will have to change that or just add an ordinary user. I was wondering why i was able to install anything. My impression was as a user i couldn't install....but i am not good with windows anymore. I mainly use linux. I wanted to find out this stuff as i got security cameras and the software that goes with them doesn't show the configuration button for the camera. Its greyed out. So i thought something might be blocking it. I also tried the web user interface and that is not showing anything either. Then again i tried it in linux too and i got nowhere. There are several camera and it is the same with every one of them. I have no idea about this stuff so maybe i am missing something. I also tried another set of completely different security cam's with the same problem...well with the web interface....
