Comment: Ok i need to get rid of media player 1..the newest version of it that comes with windows xp..and dont tell me about the control panel cause its not listed in there cause its already installed..if someone can help me i want to know how to get rid of it and use the clasic windows media player ... mplayer2.exe anyone know how to get rid of it?

Reply: This would be rather complex..and you are the first person I have ever heard of wanting to do this, I see no reason why you would want to go back, if it's because you miss the old layout then just switch the way it looks back to the old way, if you can't get video's that used to work, to work again then you prob just don't have the correct codecs...just out of curiousity...why do you want to go back to the old media player?

Reply: neorush,I would also like to get rid of windows media player.I think its very buggy.But there are quite a few ppl lookin to dump this program.I am seeing that a lot in these forums.I'm not sure why that is.Also ,does anyone know how to dump musicmatchjukebox?are these two programs deletable with out side effects?

Reply: if you want to use the old player, change the association (associate mp3/avi/mpeg files with the player2.exe or add a menu to the contextmenu, something like "open with media player 6 and point to mediaplayer 6). I did that, because the new winxp player sucks, it simply takes too much time to start. but uninstalling it isn't such a good idea - the old player 6 is pretty good, but sometimes it has problems with some video files,in that case you can still use media player 8 xp.
