how do i get rid of backdoor virus?

ok, after turning on my comp. i receive a shutdown alert (system shutdown message 60 seconds), i abort the shutdown...cannot download windows updates...installed norton antivirus- it tells me i have a backdoor.berbew virus(trojan)...i've fixed it, but either it comes back or doesn't go away...i've tried other antivirus programs...but nothing. what can i do?

You must run scans in Safe Mode.

johnso, There appears to be several variants of the backdoor.berbew. You may want to check out the first 4 links at the link below. I suggest you first turn off System Restore then run a virus scan in SAFE mode. If all comes up clean turn on System Restore again.
