How do I get my sound back?

OS: Windows XP with SP2
CPU/Ram: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor/

I had to install windows xp after having a trojan problem. It's a brand new disc never been used, everything works except for the sound...I'm not very computer savvy and am not sure really what to do to get it back. I do not have a disc or anything to download in order to get sound..what can I do?

0. Determine your sound card or chipset.

1. Download the appropriate driver.

2. Install it.

If you have onboard sound you have load the driver from the motherboard disk. Read the motherboard manual.
