Java applets on websites don't work (and yes I know the reason why), but after I install JavaTM Plug-in,
Early Access Version for Windows XP
Java applets still don't work. First of all, when I open a java site then, I get one or sometimes even two "sun" icons in my system tray, and the java applet sais "loading java applet", but it just keeps loading and after a long time it sais it can't find a .jar file. On my Windows 2000 computer these applets work perfectly.

What do I have to do, step be step, to get Java Applets to work in WinXP?

Check under Tools--Internet Options--Advanced in IE6 and make sure the boxes to enable java are checked. After I downloaded and installed Microsoft's Virtual Machine (java engine) I had to manually check those option boxes to get it to work. I tried downloading Sun's jre twice but I couldn't get it to install properly, but the Virtual Machine install went smoothly.
