How do I get a problem posted?

Dell INSPIRON 1525

Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, 1.867 GHz / 2037 MB
I have a problem formatting an 8 GIG stick. Three times I filled in this area, clicked on "post message" and then confirmed posting but nothing shows up. I used to get a confirmation message and a unique number. Not these three attempts. Am I doing something wrong? I clicked "contact us" at the bottom but "page cannot be opened". I'm screwed no matter which way I go. My problem: Windows can't format the stick. Device properties status states"read only". Is that why Windows can't format it? Is there a way to change it to "write only" like we can for a file? HELLLLOOOO OUT THERE!!!!!

Looks like you figured out how to get your problem posted!

As to formatting the 8gig stick. It may be a U3 stick that has a protection against formatting built in to the stick. Have you tried going to the manufacturer and looking at the FAQ s section?

Read this article ...there is a tool in there to help you do what it is you want to do!

Thanks for the reply, lurkswithin. One of my problems is the stick does not show the manufacturer's name - no clue. I tried the link but invariably they want money somewhere along he way. I'd rather garbage the stick - lose $15 - and buy a new one. Normally I'd take it back to the store but can't find the sales slip.
