how do i format my hard drive without my

Specs: Windows 7
I loaned my XP computer to my nephew until he purchased his own...he has informed me that he has forgot admin password (he changed mine) and I can not get in as administrator...he now informs me that he will format it for me, without password but how? when my computer was returned to me, it was as clean as a whistle and cleared of everything...without a passwrd? please help as I am desperate...bagelqueen

Obviously you tried to do a good deed & help your nephew out, but he ended up screwing things up. Retrieving or clearing an existing ADMIN password is very simple IF you know how to do it. Apparently he didn't know how so he resorted to formatting. Did he reinstall XP or is the HDD completely blank?

Hi Mickliq and thanku for reply...no it is not blank but I can only go on as a guest and am restricted, cant even get on internet without administrator1 I really dont begrudge him the loan of it, he is 18 and there is probably something he does not want me to see,tbh I dont care whats on there, I just want my puter back lol

Jonwh suggestions again, did not work on puter earlier but I think I logged on as a windows 7 when I am xp, or is it the same thing? oh gawd I am no techie am I lol
