I've added a 2nd hard drive to my new XP machine. How do I format this new drive so I can partition it. It does not show up in 'My Computer' but if I use 'Add hardware' from the control panel it finds it and says "This device is working properly".
Can I still use fdisk in XP? (Not according to the help function.) And if I can, How do I get it to boot up to DOS?

If you want to format a hard disk in Windows Xp, all you got to do is go to START -> ALL PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> COMMAND PROMPT, then you write "format c:" replace the C: with the letter(name) of your harddisk taht you want to format. If you want more details, e-mail me alban@ev1.net

You've got the order wrong. You have to partition the drive before you can format it. To partition the drive, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Once in the program, select Storage -> Disk Management. Right-click the drive you want to partition and select the partition option. You can format the drive by right-clicking it again after it's been partitioned.
