Ok so i have Windows XP. If i start the pc without hitting the set up window or bios screen it goes black. No response or activity. I've played around with the set up and bios available.. They all end with the same black screen. And randomly my CD/DVD drive will not open to allow me to put in a repair or recovery CD. I also do not have my Windows XP CD / Code. I am pretty helpless so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Not sure a cd will help just yet.

I'd look in bios. Does it report a cd and hard drive?

I'd try to borrow a cd just to try.

Sounds like it may be time to retire it. New systems are pretty cheap. Not sure I'd waste my time with a used one unless it was really cheap or free.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

some OS recovery software may help you do this without the use of CD drive.
