No reason why you shouldn't, if the monitor is not Plug and Play the software will just ignore it and Windows will install a Standard Monitor. You can then change the driver from Device Manager.

The monitor supports plug and play but im having some problems with a black screen and one solution was to install the monitor driver. For some reason its not letting me, there is no actual software to install the driver, I have to use windows to install it. I can't seem to figure out how to do it with plug & play installed, as it always makes that default, and wont let me disable it.

Have you tried turning off plug and play in your BIOS? If it's turned off there, Windows should not load its plug and play service.

Pretty weird alright
Go to - Device manager - plug and play monitor - properties - update driver
this should get you to the point where you can just do it.
