I am trying to sell my old Toshiba laptop to Gazelle. I need to erase all passwords. How do i do that? Is there a simple step to do all? Is the BIOS the password to logon?

The BIOS will usually give the option to set or remove PW.

For those stored on the HD, format it.

Life is too important to be taken seriously.

I recommend you do more than that.

Assuming this is a Windows computer you should perform a factory restore. That will remove everything related to you including all personal files and passwords in Windows, and any programs running under Windows.

I wouldn't worry about BIOS Hard drive, etc. passwords. Just provide those to the person buying the laptop along with the restore set.

Thanks. Now tell my how to do that. I am probably from an older generation than you are and don't understand how to do all that easily. Thanks.

I don't call myself OtheHill for nothing. Going on 67.

Depending on the age of the laptop you may have a recovery partition on the hard drive.
