I got an MP3 and it says that i need to change my printer port to ecp mode, but i can't get into cmos the traditional way of pressing on the startup. How do I change it to ECP on WINXP?

You have to set in it the BIOS, but you can try playing with the port settings in xp - right-click my computer - properties - hardware - device manager - ports. Right-click lpt1 - port settings. You can try to set 'use any interrupt assigned to the port', but this option may not be available unless the port is already configured for epp or ecp mode in the BIOS. And may not help even if you CAN change the setting. Why can't you get into the BIOS, anyway?

I can't because i don't know how. I'm hit the DEL key like I would normally but then nothing happens and the cpu boots up normally. Is it different for XP?

It's got nothing to do with XP - you go into the BIOS config before XP boots. Some BIOSes use a different key - f10, end... What kind of machine is it?

Can't help you there. No messages on the screen during POST to tell you how to change BIOS settings? Read the manual...

I may be wrong, but I think my Sony VAIO laptop has an odd way to get into the BIOS. I think it is by hitting ESCape (or maybe CTRL). It definitely is not DELete, like most others.
