I need to delete an old WMP video codec and download a newer version. Before doing so, I would like to save/backup the old version just in case. How would I go about saving it?

According to Microsoft, I need to delete it from the Downloaded Program Files folder. Then I need to run the following: rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection c:\windows\inf\wmv9dmo.inf,Uninstall

The next time WMP needs the new codec, it's supposed to download and install it automatically.

I just don't trust that it will work. That's why I want to save the old version. Is there a way to do that?
