Why don't you use Windows help for detailed help on how to perform that procedure.

Or better yet, get a third party software program that is more flexible than WinXP's backup.

If you want to backup documents or pictures, try an online account like the one that comes with Hotmail or Googlemail accounts.

Or, for backup, try GFI

Or, if you want to back up the complete image of your hard drive, so you can quickly restore the operating system, look here

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

I agree with OtheHill. You can consider to use a third party software program which has more functions and good service from their support forum and flexible. If you just want to save your files into CD and want to protect them in a safe place?
If yes ,i can recommend you a free software which may can meet your requests:
Backup your files with it
Backing up to CD-R/RW DVD-R/RW DVD+R/RW DVD+R DL is also supported.
Hope this helps.
