how can i scan my mother board

Specs: Windows XP
my pc is shutting down when i play the game that been installed before it happen only recently do i need to scan my board or hd for error and what is the proper procedure for error checking i hope you can help me

Shutting down may be a Power Supply problem or an overheating of the processor. If a desktop computer, is the inside of the case clean of dust. ??

See event logs. If event logs don't show then view dump logs.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
