How can I run an ISO file?

I have just downloaded a program but it is an ISO file, which I understand needs to be burned to a CD which I have done, but it still being read as an ISO file on the CD. How can I run this file?

You have to use the "Burn image" option in your burner software to burn an ISO to make it useable as a conventional CD.
Simply burning the file to a CD will not work.

What burning software do you have ?It sounds like you just burned the ISO file as a Data file,

The iso is a special way to save the contents of a CD. You need to use an application that understands how to use that iso file to recreate a copy of the original disk.
There are a few good free applications that understand how to convert an iso file to a disk. Most people use one of a few commercial programs.
You can also view and edit and copy from with other applications.
Microsoft has a virtualcd manager that may help. You can also run it from a virtual machine if it is a copy of an OS.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
