Working on a friends computer. Her sister gave her the PC but neglected to give her the installation disk. Now it's got problems and I need to run the repair function. Any suggestions?

Any xp cd should do the repair.

What's the make and model of the computer and how old is it? It may have a recovery partition in which case you won't need a disk. You just have to know the key combination to access it. Then from there you should be able to do a repair install or factory install.

Thanks! I used another XP CD. Unfortunately, when her sister threw out the disk, she tossed everything. I know there's a way to find the key code, but my XP cd did the trick! :)

For the future recover the intallation key. There are a number of utilities to do that. I suggest SIW.exe because it is so useful for other tasks too.
