|WinXP does NOT natively support SATA hard drives. If the BIOS has a setting to run the drive in an IDE mode you can use that or else you need to supply the SATA controller drivers at the beginning of the installation. You need a floppy drive to do that. OR, you can slipstream the drivers into the WinXP files on your CD and then burn a new CDR. |
Also, if your WinXP CD does not include at least SP1 you will have issues with using the entire space on the hard drive. If that is the case then you can also slipstream the latest SPack for WinXP at the same time you are doing the SATA drivers.
