How can I get UDMA 4???

Ever since I installed XP on this computer it recognizes my hard drives as UMA3 ... but whn I boot the computer the BIOS says both are UDMA4. Even Everest reports that they are UDMA4 but set to mode UDMA3... I'll post the report below along with the type of mobo.

So there you have it... is there any way to fix this?? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Master IDE drivers and tried the VIA 4 in 1... and still no avial. As you can tell it says Max. UDMA Transfer Mode UDMA 4 (ATA-66) but says Active UDMA Transfer Mode UDMA 3

Have you installed the latest Motherboard Chipset Drivers as well as Service Pack 2 and subsequent Microsoft Updates ?

No I have not updated to SP2 because what I am using was a beta release of XP. As for the mobo drivers, yup all updated.

Are you using an 80-wire IDE cable? If you're using a 40-wire cable, the best you can do is ATA33.

Ok to answer these questions, first Alex ... there is nothing wrong with the Windows version I have because it has no problems detecting UDMA5 and setting them to UDMA5 on my wifes Pentium 4. And as for Jam ... ATA33=UDMA2 which is max you can go up to on a 40-wire cable and I already mentioned it's on UDMA3=ATA44 .... so yes I am using an 80 wire cable. Anyone else have any ideas?
