how can i disable splash screens?

i have a mcafee virus scan but i dont like the splash screen to appear when booting up is there a key in the registry that can be deleted to remove this TIA

Try this: Depending on your version... hkey_local_machine\software\network associates\tvd\shared components\on access scanner\vshield\system scan\general The last registry entry key should be bskipsplash, change that to "1".
